What You Need to Know
Are you an experienced Test & Commissioning Engineer looking for your next challenge? Do you enjoy solving complex technical problems, working offshore and overseas, and seeing projects through from installation to successful commissioning?
At our Proserv facility in Great Yarmouth, we're looking for a highly motivated engineer to join our Service team, supporting the installation, commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting of subsea and topside control systems for customers worldwide.
Whilst primarily supporting field-based activities, the role will also undertake workshop-based testing, commissioning, system integration, fault-finding, factory acceptance testing (FAT), site received testing (SRT), planned maintenance routine (PMR) testing, and other service delivery activities when not mobilised.

What We Are Looking For
Some of the Key Accountabilities:
Service Delivery
Execute installation, commissioning, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and support activities for subsea and topside control systems in accordance with approved procedures, work scopes, and safety requirements.
Travel to global locations to support client commissioning, maintenance, fault-finding, system integration testing, and aftermarket service activities as required.
Independently lead commissioning, system integration testing, troubleshooting, and technical support scopes.
Diagnose equipment, system, and operational faults using technical knowledge, practical experience, and engineering judgement to identify and implement effective solutions.
Provide technical leadership during commissioning and troubleshooting activities, particularly where procedures do not fully address the issue encountered.
Support software-based troubleshooting activities through operation and diagnostic use of control system software, coordinating with Applications Engineering personnel where specialist support is required.
Workshop & Technical Support
Conduct system integration testing, factory acceptance testing (FAT), site received testing (SRT), planned maintenance routine (PMR) testing, and associated verification activities.
Support testing, commissioning, maintenance, and fault-finding activities on subsea and topside control equipment including SCMs, SDMs, OCHs, HPUs, MCSs and associated control system hardware.
Assist with technical investigations and root cause analysis activities where field experience and operational knowledge can support problem resolution.
Support preparation, maintenance, calibration, and control of service tooling, software, and test equipment required for service delivery.
Client & Technical Leadership
Act as Proserv's lead technical representative on customer sites and maintain professional relationships through safe execution, technical competence, and effective communication.
Act as the lead technical representative on assigned work scopes and provide technical guidance to clients during commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and testing activities.
Lead and coordinate service personnel assigned to work scopes, including Service Technicians and third-party contractors where required.
Support client training activities and provide practical instruction on the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Proserv systems.
Communicate effectively with Service Project Engineers, Technical Service Engineers, Engineering, Operations and client representatives to ensure successful scope execution.
Documentation & Reporting
Produce accurate, professional, and timely commissioning reports, fault-finding reports, test procedures, technical reports, and site documentation.
Ensure all technical records accurately reflect work completed, test results obtained, system changes implemented, and recommendations made.
Accurately capture and communicate as-built changes, ensuring drawings and technical documentation are marked up and returned to the appropriate engineering or project personnel for update.
Submit timesheets and expense claims in accordance with company procedures and reporting deadlines.
Participate in pre-mobilisation briefings, post-job debriefs, and lessons learned activities.
Continuous Improvement & Development
Contribute to the continuous improvement of departmental processes, procedures, and service delivery practices.
Capture lessons learned and provide feedback to support improvements in safety, quality, reliability, efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Support the development and mentoring of Service Technicians and less experienced personnel through coaching, knowledge sharing, and technical guidance.
Maintain technical competence through completion of required training, competency assessments, and development activities.
Complete assigned training and competency requirements.
Qualifications / Skills & Experience
Essential
HNC, NVQ Level 3, apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Instrumentation, Control Systems or a related discipline.
Experience working within offshore energy, oil & gas or industrial service environments.
Proven experience commissioning, maintaining and troubleshooting subsea or topside control systems.
Experience with equipment such as HPUs, MCSs, SCMs, OCHs, SSIVs, XTs or similar.
Strong understanding of electrical, hydraulic, electro-hydraulic and control systems.
The ability to interpret electrical drawings, hydraulic schematics and technical documentation.
Experience leading commissioning or troubleshooting activities independently on customer sites.
Excellent communication and report writing skills.
A flexible approach and willingness to travel internationally at short notice.
A valid passport and driving licence.
Desirable
Offshore survival and medical certification.
CompEx or hazardous area competency.
Small Bore Tubing certification (SBT).
Functional Safety/SIL awareness.
Customer training or mentoring experience.
Experience supporting root cause investigations and reliability improvement initiatives.
