What You Need to Know
The Service Automation Engineer is responsible for the implementation and testing of electrical/electronic automation systems including software SCADA & programmable logic control (PLC/RTU) controller software solutions for the Subsea Control System (SCS).
Additional responsibilities include supporting electrical/electronic project engineers in design of electrical power and communication subsystems of the Subsea Control System to include but not limited to, Master Control Stations (MCS), Electrical Power Units (EPU), modem racks, Hydraulic Power Units (HPU), and subsea data acquisition systems for offshore facilities.
What We Are Looking For
- To implement, develop methods, analyze, direct and coordinate testing and evaluate electrical/electronic automation systems, including software SCADA & PLC/RTU controller software solutions for SCS
- Support electrical/electronic project engineers in design of electrical power and communication subsystems of subsea control system to include, MCS, EPU, modem racks, HPU and subsea data acquisition systems for offshore facilities
- Support surface production equipment (SPE) and drilling control system (DCS) projects
- Manage customer interface and evaluate project work to ensure technical adequacy within time and budget
- Confer with engineers, customers, vendors, to discuss existing or potential engineering projects
- Operate computer-assisted engineering or design software or equipment to perform engineering tasks
- Utilise company and customer engineering standards to review and approve drawings, programming and documentation from engineers
- Install, commission, and service equipment per company standards
- Any other delegated responsibilities as instructed by Line Management within the timeframe specified in a safe and efficient manner to meet business requirements, provided the instruction is reasonable and you are capable and deemed competent to fulfill these.
Qualifications / Skills & Experience
Education
Essential
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in any Engineering fields.
- Associate degree, plus 3-5 years’ automation programming experience
Preferred
- Master’s degree from an accredited college/university in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Technology or similar preferred.
Experience/Skills
Essential
- 3-5 years’ experience as control system engineer in PLC and human machine interface programming for topside/subsea oil and gas industry with advanced knowledge of SCADA/PLC/RTU programming/design and electrical/electronic equipment design and application and automation systems.
- Physical ability to attain training certifications for Oil and Gas Offshore work required. Training required may include, but not limited to:
- Rig Pass/Safe Gulf/Safe Land
- Offshore Water Survival (HUET)
- OPITO approved Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET)
- Medical Certification of Fitness for Offshore Work (OGUK)
- Full vaccination requirements for offshore travel.
